Different equipment requires different cleanability requirements and this will depend on your process. Whether you require food grade hygienic equipment or just standard cleaning requirements at Sprifolow we understand that cleanability is a top requirement. All our conveyors have cleanability options and which conveyor is best will depend on your application.
Conveying in the food industry is where cleanability is the biggest issue as food safety relies on reducing the risk of cross-contamination particularly when changing batches. If a conveyor is cleaned inefficiently then micro-organisms can build up quickly and eventually contaminate the batch and batches to follow and will become increasingly difficult to move.
With all this in mind is therefore crucial for anyone with a food application to consider cleanability as a priority when choosing a conveyor.
Hygienic Conveyors:
Flexible Screw Conveyor
The flexible screw conveyor can be easily cleaned as the spiral can be reversed backward into a receptacle and then cleaned. It can also be completely stripped down in a few minutes. Optional extras include quick release flanges and hygienic fittings can be added to help with cleanability.

Aeromechanical Conveyor
An aeromechanical conveyor can be cleaned by air purging or scouring eg. running an abrasive material through it like salt. Scavenged dust is directed out through the discharge outlet. IT can also be wet washed and the cable can be removed for remote wet or dry cleaning. It also comes with a wash gate and drain to assist with cleaning.
Drag Conveyors
Drag conveyors can be cleaned similarly to the aeromechanical whether it is a cable drag conveyor or a chain drag conveyor these can be removed for remote cleaning. Again it can be air purged or scoured and any excess dust is directed out of the discharge outlet.
