Spiroflow Designs and Develops a New Sack Tip Station

Sack tip station for controlled material handling

Handling materials efficiently and safely is essential for manufacturers across various industries. Sack tip stations, also known as bag dump stations, play a critical role in managing materials in a controlled, hygienic, and efficient manner. In response to customer challenges regarding air quality and material handling precision, Spiroflow’s engineering team has developed a new sack tip station designed to enhance safety and operational efficiency.

Addressing Customer Challenges

A recent project involved a customer handling materials that generated toxic particles during the emptying process. Their existing system lacked adequate filtration, which compromised air quality and increased the risk of operator exposure to harmful dust. To address these challenges, Spiroflow designed a solution incorporating an integrated extraction unit and dust extraction fan, significantly improving air filtration while enabling controlled material flow.

Key Features of the New Sack Tip Station

The new design includes several features that address stringent operational and safety requirements:

  • Integrated Extraction Unit: Effectively captures hazardous particles from the air, significantly improving air quality and safeguarding operators from inhalation risks associated with toxic materials.
  • Dust Extraction Fan: Provides continuous removal of fine particles during operation, helping to prevent dust accumulation and potential health hazards.
  • ·Compressed Air Inlet and Breather Disk: Maintain optimal pressure and airflow, ensuring effective filtration while reducing the likelihood of airborne dust escaping into the environment.
  • Filter Cartridge Access Door: Facilitates straightforward maintenance and cleaning, allowing for regular inspections and ensuring that the system operates at peak efficiency while adhering to safety standards.
  • Vibrator Mount Plate: Supports consistent material flow for challenging powders, minimising blockages that could lead to unsafe operating conditions.
  • Bolt-in Safety Grid: Enhances operator protection by preventing accidental contact with the handling area during operation, ensuring that personnel remain safe from exposure to potentially hazardous materials.

Applications and Benefits

The sack tip station is suitable for various applications, including handling volatile compounds, managing high-value powders, and supporting research and development trials. Its robust design minimises material loss, reduces contamination risk, and provides a controlled, efficient material discharge process. Furthermore, by prioritising safety and compliance with industry standards, the sack tip station supports organisations in maintaining a safe working environment.
